A New Name

QRMS!  We have heard it pronounced a couple of ways - as an acronym and as “qwerms” so we have decided to put a name to the “Q”!  We are pleased to announce that QRMS Records Management System will be known henceforth as 

QUEST Records Management System^© 

To find a new name has been a quest in itself.  We think it conveys what the software does – searches, queries, and seeks information!  WinPat Software is now the umbrella name for our two products:  QUEST and File-Ease®. 

We Are Moving!

Along with a new name, we are relocating to new premises!  Growth in the past few years has made it necessary for us to move to a larger office in the lower mainland and to expand our facilities in Victoria. Our head office including current Delta staff are moving June 7 from 7705 Garrett Drive to 481-13302 78^th Avenue, Surrey, V3W 0H6.  The new Victoria office staffed by current Victoria personnel is located at 812-1175 Douglas Street.  Both locations offer space for meetings and training.  Please address all correspondence to WinPat Software at our new Surrey office.  Please Note: All phone numbers remain the same.  During our move on Thursday, the phones may be down so please call us at cell number:  604-617-0263.

We offer many types of support services to our clients as follows: 

• QRMS Web-based On-line Knowledge Base (to answer FAQ’s and system questions);
• E-mail, Fax and Telephone support for on-going operations;
• Additional Reports;
• Programming;
• On-site Support;
• User Training.

To assist us in providing you with the most efficient support possible, it is highly recommended that you fill out the Support Form when making the first initial support request as this will give us the information required to get you up and running as quickly as possible.

Version 7

Up to now, we have referred to our next release of QRMS as Version 7.  But no longer!  From now on the newest version of QRMS will become the first version of our new QUEST Records Management System. The current version of QRMS will still be called QRMS Version 6/32 and the new Version to be released in the Fall will be simply referred to as QUEST Records Management System. 

A number of enhancements for QUEST have already been received from our users and confirmed for inclusion in the first release of the QUEST System including the use of Executive Schedules.  

The release of QUEST is currently scheduled for October 1^st 2001.  

WinPat Holdings Ltd. is looking for clients who may wish to act as Beta sites for QUEST. QWeb

For those who don’t already know, QRMS Web Server (QWeb) searches and views QRMS data without having the QRMS software installed on the workstation.  Everything is done through the browser!   

Several organizations have purchased or are in the process of purchasing QWeb.  To date, more than 300 users and potential users have access to QWeb and the great features it provides.

ARCS Amendments

B.C. Archives Government Records Services has informed us that about 80 ARCS amendments are soon coming.  If you need assistance with electronic conversion, take advantage of our conversion service. 

Let us do the work for you!

 For $795 (plus applicable taxes), clients with maintenance agreements can e-mail, FTP or send us data on a diskette/CD-ROM and we’ll update it to include the ARCS Amendments.  (No maintenance agreement?  Give us a call).  To minimize downtime, send us your data by Friday noon and we will have your updated data back to you on Monday morning!  To order this service, please e-mail us at sales@qrms.com or phone 604-596-1434.

User Group Meetings

We enjoyed meeting many of our clients at our last User Group Meetings and it was evident that they enjoyed meeting other users too.  Bearing in mind your suggestions, we have tentatively scheduled our next Victoria User Group Meeting for October.  Instead of a second meeting in Vancouver, we are proposing a user group meeting to be held in Penticton for our Interior-based clients in September.  We plan to premier QUEST, so don’t miss it!  We would appreciate any feedback from you regarding times, dates, and places for our meetings, by e-mailing us at qrms@qrms.com

Training

Training courses have recently been held at Vancouver, Victoria and Williams Lake.  You have the option of having sessions at your site or ours.  Sessions can cover standard QRMS functionality and can be tailored to meet your requirements. 

The popular QRMS Records Management Software Course given by Elizabeth Cote will be held again in the Fall on Saturdays from 9:00-noon at Camosun College - tentative start date: Nov 3.  For more information, go to the Camosun College website at www.camosun.bc.ca.   One satisfied client commented, “I really enjoyed the training course.  It is a great application”.

Helpful Hints

Speed Issues – What Virus Checker program are you running?

It was found recently that running some software on a server with the McAfee Netshield Virus Scanner 4.03a or 4.5 installed, caused some applications to slow down considerably. QRMS Version 6-32Bit system was affected this way.  Once the McAffee anti-virus was replaced, the speed of the system improved significantly!
